Automated
Export System (AES)
The Automated Export System (AES) is a
joint venture between U.S. Customs and other federal agencies to provide
a seamless government export process. It provides a gateway for routing
export data electronically to the appropriate government agency and
eliminates redundancy. This automation step eliminates paper SEDs and
helps remove the processing barriers that impede the flow of trade.
ASCI's AES Procedures--the system designed for Exporters, Freight Forwarders
and NVOCCs--was certified by Customs in 1996.
ASCI's AES Procedures is fully integrated
with our Export Procedures, and can also function
as a stand-alone system. Users of Export Procedures save time by using
already entered shipment data to prepare the paperless SEDs and to send
manifest information. With our AES programs, shipment information is
verified before being transmitted to US Customs, eliminating potential
errors and penalties. Best of all, transmission is more expedient and
accurate than manually keying in data to the AESDirect portal.
Transmission of data is made using the
high-speed VPN/MQ communications protocol, which provides a quick and
secure connection to U.S. Customs.
